Jump, Jive & Wail with
Junior & the Fat Cats
A seven-piece international rhythm and blues band dedicated to the music of the 1940s and 50s. The broad repertoire ranges from boogie, blues, jive, rhythm and blues to rock ‘n’ roll. The program covers classics as well as numerous rarities. Thanks to the classic R&B line-up with a powerful horn section of three saxes it is possible to bring the rhythm and blues sound of the 40s and 50s authentically onto the stage. The band loves the stage, the show immediately inspires and lets the audience participate in the lifestyle of the time. An extraordinary show is guaranteed and the listeners only want one thing: dance, dance, dance!
At countless club gigs and festivals in Europe, “Junior&the Fat Cats” formerly known as “The Juke Joint Royals” have already been able to set musical accents. Whether England, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Switzerland, Croatia, Bulgaria or Austria, the stage show of this band thrilled immediately after the first sound.
Due to these brilliant performance successes, the Hamburg record label “Boom Chicka Boom Records” became aware of the Juke Joint Royals potential. As a result of this collaboration, the first album “Jumpin’ and Bluesin’ with The Juke Joint Royals” was released in June 2017, which received excellent reviews in internationally recognized trade magazines such as “Vintage Rock Magazine” and “UK Rock & Roll Magazine”.
Line Up
Erich Herbst – Vocals & Piano
He is the mastermind of the Royals, founder, manager and frontman. Raised from childhood with Rhythm & Blues, let’s say feeded from the mother’s breast. A bandleader blessed with wit, he skilfully captures the audience.
Mathias Schwarz – Guitar & Backing Vocals
Founding member of the Royals, jazz blues is his home. Specialist in melodic quotations. The only guitarist who masters the Wuxi fingergrip. skadoosh!!
Franz Heinrich Lirsch – Double Bass
The man on the double bass seems calm and collected, but takes off like a rocket as soon as he plucks the strings. Fundamentally solid.
Reinhard Dlapa – Drums
The rhythm chef drums like a star chef, so to speak 5 star shuffler. Even with real pots a passable cook.
Nina Dvorak – Tenor Sax
Almost always crowd favourite, sometimes even with breathtaking stunts on the bass drum. Dedicated to swing, jazz, rock’n roll and rockabilly. Responsible for the good mood on stage.
Peter Hübl – Alto Sax
Second stuntman of the Royals, organizers keep sweating, because every show he tries a new eye-catcher. Solid showman and saxophonist. Professional coffee brewer.
Peter Blemenschütz – Baritone Sax
Wearing a baritone sax stunt is enough for him. Growing up with his father’s big band records, he was drawn to a saxophone study. R&B is one of his passions, which he is allowed to live out with the Royals. Professional coffee drinker.
